In the year 2007, Rahul Torambe, was driven by the extraordinary dream to see a day when no child would be deprived of rights for education, quality food. Like many of us, Rahul too was upset when he saw disparities between privileged and underprivileged children. He hated to see children begging and working as servants. Unlike most of us though, he did something about it. He visited few ngos in Pune for doing social service. He started free milk, food distribution for street children, and started giving away his phone number to people saying if you need any help you can call on this number. Within a span of two months he started getting 2 to 3 calls in a day where people used to ask help on various issues like medical help, cloths, Food items, Legal help etc. Looking at the work load Rahul's father Babu Torambe who was recently retired from Indian Army started supporting him because in few of the incidents police involvement was required for saving the victim. Soon Rahul realized that social work can't be done alone and he need a team who will work with him to raise funds, resources for managing these activities. Rahul shared his vision with his close friends Sayali , Sujay , Sachin , Bipin , Vaishnavi and since all of them were already doing social work in their own way they could able to relate with the vision and supported him and in the year 2012 Sanjivani NGO was registered under the Societies’ Registration Act of 1860 and Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950 with Registration Number F-0037545(PUN). All through the early, difficult years, it was Rahul's passion and conviction that drove Sanjivani NGO. He was firmly convinced that each of us can, in our own small way, be the agents of change, and when enough of us become one, the impact is a lasting change for the better. All he asked of people was that they help Sanjivani NGO by doing what they were good at. As he put it, “What I can do, I must do for the society.”
